What to Expect
Your first visit will give us an opportunity to personally connect and introduce you to our practice. We will take the time to listen to your health goals, past history, and stressors present in your life. Then an examination will be performed to give us an objective look at how your nervous system is adapting to your environment.
Your history and examination allow us to put together a personalized plan just for you to succeed in your wellness journey.
There are many ways that you can use chiropractic in your life: maintaining an optimally adapting nervous system, supporting a changing body during pregnancy, giving your child the best possible start in life, or bringing your performance to the next level. We look forward to being a part of whichever health journey you are currently living.
Your First Visit
Your first visit is designed to be unhurried. It begins with a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Pam— we ask about your health history, what brought you in, what you’ve tried before, and what you’re hoping to accomplish. We genuinely want to understand your whole picture, not just the symptom that got you here. From there, we will perform a hands-on examination to assess your spinal alignment and how your nervous system is adapting to the stressors in your life. If you’re a good candidate for care, we provide your first gentle adjustment and walk you through a personalized plan before you leave. You’ll never feel rushed, pressured, or like a number.
Plan for 30 to 45 minutes for your initial visit. This allows enough time for a thorough consultation, a complete examination, your first adjustment, and a conversation about next steps. Follow-up visits are much shorter — typically 5 to 10 minutes — once Dr. Pam knows your history and your care plan is underway.
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is ideal. You don’t need to change or wear a gown — all adjustments are performed fully clothed. Avoid very stiff jeans or tight waistbands if possible, as we will need to assess the movement of your spine and pelvis.
Yes — we’ll send you new patient intake forms ahead of your appointment. Completing these before you arrive keeps your first visit focused on your care rather than your clipboard. If you have any records from a previous chiropractor, imaging results, or relevant medical history, feel free to bring those along as well.
Absolutely, the kids area is waiting for them! We are a family practice in every sense — our office is set up to welcome little ones, and on any given day you’ll find babies, toddlers, and school-age children here alongside their parents. If your child has never been adjusted and you’d like us to take a look at them while you’re in, just let us know when you book and we can arrange it.
What to Expect from Chiropractic Care
Most patients describe their first adjustment as a relief — both physically and emotionally. Our doctors use specific, gentle techniques adapted to your body, your history, and your comfort level. You may hear or feel a small pop during an adjustment — that’s simply the release of gas pressure in the joint, similar to cracking your knuckles. Many patients feel an immediate sense of release, reduced tension, or lightness after being adjusted. Some feel a little sore the next day, similar to how muscles feel after a good stretch or massage — this is normal and typically passes within 24 hours.
For most people, no. Chiropractic adjustments are not meant to be painful, and our doctors work entirely within your comfort level. If you are coming in with significant acute pain, you may feel some temporary discomfort during the examination or adjustment as your body responds — but we will always communicate with you throughout and will never push beyond what feels right for your body that day.
This varies from person to person and depends on how long the issue has been present, your overall health, and how consistently you receive care. Some patients notice significant changes after their very first adjustment. Others experience gradual improvement over several visits as their nervous system recalibrates and their body adapts. Our doctors will give you an honest, realistic picture of what to expect based on what she finds at your initial exam — not a one-size-fits-all answer.
No — though many of our patients choose to. There are two ways people typically use chiropractic care: symptom-based care, where you come in to address a specific issue and stop once it resolves, and wellness care, where you continue with periodic adjustments to maintain a well-functioning nervous system the way you’d maintain any other aspect of your health. We will never pressure you into a care plan that doesn’t fit your life. We’ll give you our recommendation, explain the reasoning, and respect whatever you decide.
Pricing & Payment
We are a cash-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. We know that’s not the answer everyone is hoping for, and we want to be upfront about it rather than have you find out at the front desk. Here’s why we work this way: insurance companies dictate the frequency, duration, and type of care they’re willing to cover — which often conflicts with what a patient actually needs. Operating outside of insurance allows our doctors to design your care plan based entirely on your health, not on what an insurance company will approve.
Yes. We offer payment plans and family membership plans specifically designed to make regular chiropractic care affordable for the whole family — from newborns to grandparents. Memberships include a set number of visits per month at a reduced rate, making it realistic to use chiropractic as an ongoing part of your family’s wellness routine rather than a one-time fix. Call our office at (843) 663-0274 or ask Dr. Pam at your first visit for current options.
In most cases, yes. Chiropractic care is generally an eligible expense under Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). We recommend confirming with your plan administrator, as eligibility rules can vary. We are happy to provide itemized receipts for your records.
