Supporting Your Body Through Every Stage of Pregnancy
Pregnancy is one of the most extraordinary seasons of a woman’s life — and one of the most physically demanding. In just nine months, your body reshapes itself completely to grow and carry new life. Your pelvis widens, your center of gravity shifts, your ligaments loosen, and your nervous system works overtime managing it all. That’s a mountain worth supporting.
At Move Mountains Chiropractic in Little River, SC, we specialize in gentle, safe chiropractic care for pregnant moms — from the first trimester through the final weeks before birth. Dr. Pam Voss is a Webster Technique certified chiropractor with over a decade of experience caring for expectant mothers. She understands, professionally and personally, what pregnancy asks of a woman’s body — and she is passionate about helping moms feel strong, comfortable, and cared for every step of the way.
What Is Prenatal Chiropractic Care?
Prenatal chiropractic care focuses on supporting the alignment of your spine, pelvis, and sacrum as your body changes throughout pregnancy. When your pelvis is balanced and your nervous system is free of interference, your body is better equipped to adapt to those changes with less pain, better sleep, and greater ease.
Dr. Pam uses the Webster Technique — a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment method designed exclusively for pregnant women. It works by reducing tension in the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis, balancing the pelvic bones, and optimizing nervous system function. A balanced pelvis not only reduces discomfort for mom — it also creates the optimal environment for baby to move and position for birth.
All adjustments during pregnancy are gentle and adapted specifically to your stage of pregnancy and comfort level. Special pregnancy pillows allow you to lie face-down safely through your third trimester. You are always in control.
What Can Prenatal Chiropractic Help With?
Many of the most common discomforts of pregnancy respond remarkably well to chiropractic care. Moms we’ve worked with have experienced relief from:
- Low back pain and sciatica — among the most common complaints in the second and third trimester, often caused by pelvic misalignment and pressure on the sciatic nerve
- Round ligament pain — the sharp, pulling sensation many moms feel on the sides of the abdomen as the uterus expands
- Pubic symphysis discomfort (SPD) — pelvic instability that causes pain walking, climbing stairs, or turning in bed
- Neck pain and upper back tension — as posture shifts to accommodate a growing belly, the upper spine and shoulders often bear the load
- Rib pain — particularly in the second trimester as baby grows and the ribcage expands
- Reflux and heartburn — nervous system regulation can help calm digestive symptoms
- Poor sleep — many moms find they sleep more deeply and comfortably after regular adjustments
- Swelling in the hands and feet — chiropractic care supports lymphatic drainage and circulation
- Breech and posterior positioning — a balanced pelvis gives baby the room they need to move into an optimal position for birth
Research supports that women who receive regular chiropractic care during pregnancy often experience shorter labor times and reduced need for pain interventions during delivery. We believe that’s because a well-supported nervous system allows the body to do exactly what God designed it to do.
The Webster Technique: What It Is and Why It Matters
Dr. Pam is certified in the Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). This is a specialized certification requiring advanced training beyond standard chiropractic licensure — and it’s the gold standard of care for pregnant women.
The Webster Technique is not simply a standard chiropractic adjustment applied to a pregnant woman. It is a specific protocol that:
- Analyzes the alignment and movement of the sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of your spine)
- Addresses tension in the round ligaments that support the uterus
- Restores balanced function to the pelvis and sacroiliac joints
- Removes nervous system interference that can affect both mom and baby
Many of the moms we work with were referred to Dr. Pam by their midwives, OBs, or doulas — because healthcare providers in our community trust this approach and see the results in their patients.
When Should You Start Prenatal Chiropractic Care?
The short answer: as early as you’d like. Many moms begin care in the first trimester before symptoms even begin, as a way to support their changing body proactively. Others come to us in the second or third trimester when discomfort becomes difficult to manage.
We have helped moms at every stage, including those in their final weeks of pregnancy preparing for birth. It is never too early — and almost never too late — to begin.
We also offer postpartum care to support your recovery after delivery, and we would love to check your baby as well. The birth process, even a smooth one, places significant stress on a newborn’s spine and nervous system. A gentle newborn check is a beautiful gift to give your baby in their first days of life.
What to Expect at Your First Prenatal Visit
Your first visit begins with a conversation. Dr. Pam will take time to listen to your health history, your pregnancy journey, your concerns, and your goals. She genuinely wants to understand your whole picture — not just your symptoms.
After your consultation, she will perform a gentle examination to assess your spinal alignment, pelvic balance, and nervous system function. If you are a good candidate for care, she will provide your first gentle adjustment and talk through a personalized plan designed around your lifestyle, schedule, and stage of pregnancy.
Most moms feel noticeably different after their first visit. Some feel immediate relief. Others notice improvements in sleep or mood in the days that follow. Every body is different — and Dr. Pam will meet you exactly where you are.

FAQs
Yes. Prenatal chiropractic care is widely considered safe when performed by a trained chiropractor. Dr. Pam is Webster Technique certified and has worked with hundreds of pregnant moms. All adjustments are adapted for pregnancy and performed with your comfort and safety as the top priority.
This varies based on your stage of pregnancy, your symptoms, and your goals. Many moms begin with weekly visits and transition to bi-weekly or monthly as they stabilize. Dr. Pam will put together a personalized recommendation after your first visit.
Most pregnant moms find prenatal adjustments comfortable and even relaxing. If you are in significant pain, the first adjustment may involve some temporary soreness afterward — similar to how your muscles feel after a massage. Dr. Pam always works within your comfort level.
No referral is needed. That said, many of our patients are referred to us by their OBs, midwives, and doulas who have seen the results firsthand. We are happy to communicate with your care team if helpful.
